The PLATFORM FOR THE PROMOTION OF ARTISTIC CRAFTS is open to any public or private initiative aiming to promote the development of artistic crafts applied to construction, decoration, rehabilitation and restoration of the architectonic heritage. At the same time, it is an instrument to identify bad practices in these works or simple to complain about how neglected and overlooked our heritage is. We believe it is vital that the Spanish Administration acknowledges the cultural importance of the proficiency in artistic crafts. Therefore, we suggest the Spanish Government to invest at least 1% of the total amount dedicated to works in public buildings in promoting works where the use of the artistic crafts are needed, including works fostering decorative arts, with designs employing artistic techniques. The final goal is to promote culture and qualified employment. We are demanding, in every project of rehabilitation or recovery of historical buildings, an increased rigour and level of proficiency concerning knowledge of materials and decoration techniques. To that end, the cooperation of the professional associations of architects, master builders, decorators as well as that of promoters, is essential to restore the original quality of our cultural heritage. We insist that the restoration of the inner rooms should have the same importance than that of the façades of the buildings to be restored, preserving the decorative techniques and the original materials as much as possible.
